Overview

Chicaque is a reserve of 300 hectares of sub-Andean forest, with altitudes ranging from 2,000 to 2,700 meters, with some occasional rainfall as a result of the ascending humid air currents of the Magdalena Valley, forming large banks of fog that classify this ecosystem as a Fog Forest. A place that is home to 214 species of birds, among which we can mention: Black Inca, Glowing Puffleg, Black-tailed Red Jay, Crimson-mantled Woodpecker, Green-and-black Fruiteater, some of them endemic to the area, 20 species of mammals, a variety of reptiles, amphibians and arthropods; more than 3,000 plant species, 7 types of forests, 20 km of ecological trails and 3 streams with crystal-clear waters that make Chicaque a unique place in the world.
